Valerianol

EBV-EA Inhibitor

Valerianol is a sesquiterpene alcohol that functions as an Epstein-Barr virus early antigen (EBV-EA) inhibitor. It demonstrates significant biological activities, including anticancer, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. Valerianol effectively inhibits TPA-induced EBV-EA activation with an IC50 of 300 μM, making it a valuable tool for studying the cellular mechanisms of EBV. Additionally, it is noted for its activity against pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, contributing to its potential applications in infectious disease research.
