Xestospongin C

IP3R Inhibitor

Xestospongin C is a selective and reversible inhibitor of the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (IP3R), primarily targeting intracellular calcium signaling mechanisms. It effectively blocks IP3-induced calcium release from cerebellar microsomes with an IC50 of 358 nM, while also inhibiting the sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA) pump. This compound serves as a critical tool for researchers studying the structure and function of IP3Rs, as well as elucidating calcium signaling pathways in both neuronal and nonneuronal cells.
