AM8191 hydrochloride is a potent oral bactericidal agent that selectively inhibits DNA synthesis by targeting Staphylococcus aureus gyrase (IC50=1.02 μM) and topo IV (IC50=10.4 μM). This compound shows significant antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, demonstrating minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 0.02 μg/mL for MSSA and 0.06 μg/mL for MRSA. Its specificity and efficacy make AM8191 hydrochloride a valuable tool in the study of bacterial infections and resistance mechanisms.
