Antimicrobial agent-34

Bacteria Inhibitor

Antimicrobial agent-34 (compound 4h) is a potent antibacterial agent targeting bacterial cell membranes, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1–4 μg/mL. This compound exhibits noteworthy plasma stability (HC50 of 131.1 μg/mL) and favorable membrane selectivity, characterized by an HC50/MIC ratio of 65.6. Antimicrobial agent-34's mechanism of action involves compromising the integrity of bacterial membranes, leading to increased intracellular reactive oxygen species and subsequent leakage of protein and DNA, culminating in bacterial cell death. Its significant in vivo activity is demonstrated in a mouse sepsis model infected with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC43300, making it a valuable tool for antibacterial research.
