Antimycin A2

Fungicide

Antimycin A2 is a potent inhibitor of the cytochrome b-c1 complex within the mitochondrial electron transport chain. By disrupting mitochondrial membrane potential and promoting the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), Antimycin A2 demonstrates bactericidal and piscicidal properties along with significant growth inhibitory effects on tumor cells, including inducing S-phase cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in HeLa cells. This compound is valuable for research applications in cervical cancer and fisheries management, and it can be isolated from the fermentation products of specific Streptomyces sp. strains.
