Bromophenol blue

pH Indicator

Bromophenol blue is an acid phthalein dye that functions as a pH indicator with a transition range of pH 3 to 4.6. Its utility in electrophoresis as a tracking dye enables the visualization of biomolecules during separation processes. Additionally, Bromophenol blue serves as a sensor for quantifying compounds such as ammonia, drugs, proteins, and amino acids, with significant absorbance observed at 610 nm upon protein binding.
