Capsidiol

Phytoalexin

Capsidiol is a sesquiterpene phytoalexin with antimicrobial properties, primarily targeting pathogen infections in Solanaceae plants. It exhibits significant immunomodulatory and anti-neuroinflammatory activities by inhibiting overactive T cell responses and mitigating inflammatory processes in microglia. Capsidiol downregulates the expression of iNOS and COX-2, leading to reduced production of nitric oxide and proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6. Its applications extend to research on multiple sclerosis, potato late blight, and gray mold.
