Cidofovir sodium

CMV Inhibitor

Cidofovir sodium is an acyclic monophosphate nucleotide analogue that acts as a selective inhibitor of cytomegalovirus (CMV) replication by targeting viral DNA polymerase. This compound exhibits significant antiviral activity and induces apoptosis, making it valuable for research into AIDS-related CMV retinitis, herpes infection, and cancer therapies. Additionally, cidofovir sodium demonstrates anti-orthopoxvirus and anti-variola properties, further expanding its utility in virology studies.
