Crabrolin

Antimicrobial Agent

Crabrolin is a tridecapeptide derived from the venom of the European hornet (Vespa crabro) and functions as an antimicrobial agent. It demonstrates significant antibacterial activity, exhibiting minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBC) of 2/2 μM against S. aureus (NCTC 10788), 16/64 μM against MRSA (NCTC 12493), and 4/8 μM against E. faecium (NTCC 12697). This compound is useful for research applications focused on the development of new antimicrobial therapies.
