Dioctyldimethylammonium chloride

Bactericide

Dioctyldimethylammonium chloride, a quaternary ammonium salt, acts primarily as a bactericide. It exerts its antibacterial activity by disrupting cell membrane integrity, leading to the leakage of intracellular contents. This reagent is also applicable in various industrial settings, such as a petroleum additive, antistatic agent, softening agent, rare metal flotation agent, and corrosion inhibitor, thus expanding its utility beyond microbiological research.
