EGTA tetrasodium

Calcium Ion Chelator

EGTA tetrasodium is a specialized calcium ion chelator with a primary mechanism of chelating Ca2+ ions. It exhibits a low apparent calcium dissociation constant (Kd) of 60.5 nM at physiological pH (7.4), demonstrating high specificity for calcium over magnesium (Kd for Mg2+ is 1-10 mM). This compound is utilized in research applications focusing on calcium-dependent cellular processes, including the inhibition of substrate adherence in inflammatory macrophages.
