FtsZ Inhibitor

FtsZ-IN-12 is an inhibitor of the filamentous temperature-sensitive Z (FtsZ) protein, a critical component in bacterial cell division. This compound inhibits FtsZ’s GTPase activity and polymerization, disrupting the cellular processes necessary for bacterial replication. FtsZ-IN-12 demonstrates broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against species such as Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Acinetobacter baumannii, with MIC values ranging from 0.062 to 1 μg/mL. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit the formation of bacterial biofilms and effectively clear mature biofilms without exhibiting hemolytic toxicity to mammalian red blood cells.
