Lactonic sophorolipid

Antimicrobial Surfactant

Lactonic sophorolipid is an antimicrobial surfactant that targets cell membrane permeability and induces apoptosis in tumor cells. It regulates the expression of Bax and Bcl-2 genes through the activation of caspase-3 and -9, promoting the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. With a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) range of 100-400 μg/mL against oral pathogens, lactonic sophorolipid also demonstrates potential in enhancing the efficacy of antibiotics. This compound is suitable for research in liver cancer and the development of antibacterial agents for oral hygiene applications.
