MK-7762

Antitubercular Agent

MK-7762 is an orally active xazolidinone compound that functions as an antitubercular agent. Its primary mechanism involves the inhibition of MAO-B and mammalian mitochondrial protein synthesis, leading to a reduction in bacterial load. In preclinical models, MK-7762 demonstrates efficacy by decreasing lung bacterial burden in BALB/c mice with both acute and chronic tuberculosis, as well as effectively penetrating caseous necrotic lung lesions in C3HeB/FeJ mice. This compound is valuable for research focused on tuberculosis management and treatment strategies.
