N1,N11-Diethylnorspermine
Anticancer Agent
N1,N11-Diethylnorspermine is a synthetic analog of spermine that serves as an anticancer agent by inducing polyamine depletion and inhibiting tumor cell growth. It activates polyamine catabolism, leading to downregulation of mTOR protein and the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria, which results in caspase-3 activation. This compound effectively targets glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) by promoting the induction of spermidine/spermine N1-acetyltransferase (SSAT) alongside hydrogen peroxide production.
