Phthalaldehyde

Gram-negative vegetative bacteria Inhibitor

Phthalaldehyde is a potent inhibitor targeting Gram-negative vegetative bacteria. It reacts with proteins containing primary amines, leading to the stabilization of bacterial outer membranes and cell walls. This agent increases the optical density of bacterial cell suspensions and effectively inhibits bacterial lysis induced by agents such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and sodium dodecyl sulfate. Phthalaldehyde's bactericidal activity makes it a valuable reagent for research applications focused on bacterial cell biology and antimicrobial studies.
