Schisandrone

MRSA Inhibitor

Schisandrone is a 4-aryltetralone lignan that functions as a potent MRSA inhibitor through its action as an alpha-hemolysin (Hla) inhibitor. By downregulating the transcript levels of hla, agrA, and RNAIII, Schisandrone interferes with key virulence factors of Staphylococcus aureus, which is crucial for its pathogenicity. This compound has demonstrated significant efficacy in combating MRSA pneumonia, making it a valuable reagent for research in antimicrobial therapies and infections.
