Estrone sulfate

Endogenous Estrogen

Estrone sulfate is an endogenous estrogen precursor that can be enzymatically converted into active forms, Estrone and Estradiol. As a substrate of the OATP1B3 transporter, it plays a role in cellular uptake processes. Estrone sulfate has been shown to promote the proliferation of nitrosomethylurea-induced mammary tumors in ovariectomized rat models and enhances colony formation in cultured nitrosomethylurea mammary cells. This compound is particularly relevant for research in breast cancer and estrogen signaling pathways.
