Halofuginone hydrobromide

Prolyl-tRNA Synthetase Inhibitor

Halofuginone hydrobromide is a competitive inhibitor of prolyl-tRNA synthetase with a Ki value of 18.3 nM. It is known to specifically inhibit type-I collagen synthesis and reduce osteoarthritis symptoms through the attenuation of TGF-β activity. Additionally, Halofuginone hydrobromide acts as a potent pulmonary vasodilator by activating Kv channels while simultaneously blocking voltage-gated, receptor-operated, and store-operated Ca2+ channels. It exhibits a range of biological activities including anti-malaria, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-fibrotic effects, making it relevant for various research applications.
