Agrochemicals

Agrochemicals are compounds developed to protect crops, control pests and regulate plant growth. In research they are studied for their modes of action, their effects on non-target organisms and their fate in soil, water and food. Reference compounds from this field support plant biology, entomology, toxicology and environmental analysis, including the detection of residues and breakdown products.

The section is divided into four subcategories, which separate active compounds from their breakdown products and other agents. Insecticides & Acaricides lists compounds used against insects and mites, such as the pyrethroid deltamethrin and the carbamate fenobucarb. Plant Growth Regulators covers plant hormones, elicitors and synthetic regulators, for example the brassinosteroid (22S,23S)-homobrassinolide, the elicitor syringolin A and folcisteine. Pesticide Metabolites collects breakdown products used to follow the environmental and metabolic fate of parent compounds. Other Agrochemicals holds compounds outside these groups, such as the insect repellent N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET) and inhibitors of tobacco mosaic virus.
